On 2 April 2025 an EF3 tornado touched down along Watterson Trail at Rivanna Drive, ran west of Blankenbaker through the industrial ground, crossed the I-265 and I-64 cloverleaf, carried on into houses along Beckley Station Road and lifted near Long Run Road.
